Care
How to make your pair last.
Handmade earrings ask for a little care in return. Here's everything we tell friends about looking after their Chhondo pieces — organized by finish.
Oxidized Earrings
- •Store in a cool, dry place — away from direct sunlight
- •Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, or water
- •Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing
- •Do not use silver polish — it will remove the oxidized finish
Tip. Store in a small zip-lock bag to slow natural re-oxidization.
Quilling Earrings
- •Keep away from water entirely — paper and moisture don't mix
- •Do not store in a humid environment (like a bathroom shelf)
- •Handle with care — the paper structure can dent under pressure
- •Wipe with a barely-damp cloth only if needed; air dry fully
Tip. Original packaging box is your best storage option.
Anti-Tarnish Earrings
- •No special treatment needed for day-to-day wear
- •Avoid prolonged water exposure (swimming, bathing)
- •Wipe clean with a soft cloth after use
- •Store in the pouch provided to avoid scratching
Tip. Anti-tarnish coating lasts longer if you put earrings on after applying perfume or hairspray.
Gold-Plated Earrings
- •Avoid contact with soap, lotions, perfumes, and chlorine
- •Remove before swimming, bathing, or exercise
- •Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear
- •Store in the anti-tarnish pouch provided
Tip. The thicker the plating, the longer it lasts — Chhondo uses a minimum 3-micron coating.
